At Citron Jaune, our philosophy is woven with threads of conscience and craftsmanship. Each creation in our range is a tapestry of dedication, bearing a minimum of 2 hours of lovingly handcrafted work. We proudly craft most of our products in our workshop nestled in Madagascar, a place where modern industrial techniques converge harmoniously with time-honored traditions. Here, hand-made embroidery, smocking, and crochet are not just techniques; they are living legacies. Our commitment to ethical fashion is not just a choice; it's a harmonious blend of the past and the future, where style meets sustainability, and each thread tells a story.

We strive for a balance between embracing the modern world and acknowledging our human values in everything we create, produce, and distribute.

Ethically made

Good working conditions not only enhance the quality of life but also bring happiness to those who benefit from them.

In the heart of Citron Jaune, our fashion designer Jenny Randria, based in Canada, ignites the creative spark that drives our vision.

We are a small, tight-knit workshop comprising 25 dedicated individuals, with a remarkable 95% of our team being talented women artisans and textile workers. Our shared goal is simple yet profound: to gather exceptional minds and hands, fashioning the finest clothing and accessories tailored just for you.

Consider this: Your next purchase has the power to directly impact a woman's life. It can help her pay bills, provide an education for her children, and put food on the family table. In Madagascar, where many artisan women didn't have access to formal education in their youth, their skilled hands are their greatest assets. What they need most is stable employment under fair conditions to thrive and reshape their destinies.

By choosing ethical fashion, you're not just acquiring beautiful items; you're actively contributing to the empowerment of these talented artisans. Together, we can grow our community of skilled individuals and create a ripple of positive change that extends far beyond fashion.

At Citron Jaune, we wholeheartedly embrace the concept of slow fashion. Our approach involves crafting in small batches and scaling up production only upon your order, significantly reducing overstock and minimizing waste of precious materials and energy resources.

While we make every effort to source our materials locally, our unwavering commitment to quality occasionally takes us beyond borders. Our creations predominantly feature natural biodegradable fibers like cotton, raffia, silk, and wool. When necessary for technical purposes, we incorporate select materials, such as those providing elasticity or waterproofing, all while maintaining our dedication to sustainability. Our buttons, for instance, are carefully crafted from sustainable wood or adorned with the timeless elegance of mother of pearl. We are not using plastic or metallic parts.

To minimize our environmental footprint, our items are shipped in bulk to Canada, where they are thoughtfully packaged individually and distributed to Americas and Asia. Orders to Europe are directly shipped from the Workshop.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to every detail, from our eco-friendly tags to our biodegradable mailer bags, wrapping paper, and shipping boxes.

Yet, we agree that there is always more that can be done. Every day, we strive to make improvements, recognizing that even the smallest steps have the power to pave the way for a brighter, more sustainable future. Thank you for joining us on this meaningful journey !
